This book is a charming yet thoughtful tale narrated in a humorous way revolving around the character of Kritidhara Pant aka Kittu.
As the novel begins we see Kittu in a dilemma and kinda frustrated over a magazine quiz which declared her a 'church mouse'~ one whose entire life is spent at the same place and has no exposure to the world and in Kittu's case it does holds true as she left Lucknow only on 2 occasions. The first trip involved the last rites of her grandmother and second was a wedding, but she returned home to her mother's funeral and after that devastating incident she never left her house and now she stays in the house full of men.
Let's introduce with the 6 men in the house; we have Ravi Pant (her father) ,High BP or Hridyanath Brahma Pant (Grandfather) ,her twin brothers Shamik and Nishant, Bark Twain her dog who once used to be Bittu and Mr. P.G. Wodehouse unlike the blood and flesh people this gentleman is within a frame but I really enjoyed his quirky and funny replies anyway
Kittu inspite of living in the house full of people she still feels lonely the void always haunts her and she thinks noone could ever understand her, with whom she could possibly share her endless relationship issues, Maniac obsessions and simple aspirations and she feels all alone in the world
This is a story of Kittu, her family ,her dramatic life and her emotions and dilemmas. This story was refreshing but at places it was bit dragged ,the slow pace that the book follows initially was flabbergasting. They are lot of banters between the characters which felt unnecessary and doesn't adds upto the story progression. It was in chapter 4 when I felt yeah the story is going somewhere. Overall this was delightful contemporary family fiction. I liked the concept and the idea of the book. The writing style is easy and beginners' friendly would recommend it to everyone who wants to read a contemporary fiction that beholds sweet yet thoughtful story
