♻️This book first captured my interest because I had sustainable development (SDGs) as one of my papers and that there are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets made consistent with existing commitments expressed in various international instruments.

♻️This book particularly addresses the importance of changing the course of sustainability and preservation of global climate and environment from ESG that is using Environmental, Social and Governance factors to assess the sustainability of companies and countries to ESL which is basically Environmental, Social and Leadership that is steward leadership and from my personal takeaway I do think that the leadership part is important because now the world predominantly runs on capitalism and with capitalist pulling the strings behind it definitely falls on their shoulder to recognise and acknowledge the urgency to save planet Earth and humanity and must collaborate to create a meaningful impact on 21st century challenges like climate change, environmental degradation, socioeconomic inequality and cyber vulnerability and be capable of urgency and unison even when the threat is not perceived as pressing or extensive.

♻️Steward Leadership, the topic this book stresses on is that if we want to save our planet and humanity we need to mature into steward leaders which someone of power with the genuine desire and persistence to create a collective better future creating values by integrating the needs of the shareholders, society, future generations and the environment.

♻️In the second part of the book we get to read real life examples of steward Leadership in action through case studies of companies like: The Faber-Castell with more than 260 years of sustainability enabled profitable growth, The Doi Tung Development Project that has been portraying a self-sustaining community stewardship, the very notable Tata Group with their 155-Year legacy, Mars, Incorporated, The Farm Fresh which is a dairy, Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER), The Boeing 737 Max Twin Tragedies also about the Volkswagen and Theranos. Amongst these I really enjoyed reading about the Faber-Castell and The Tata Group; the legacy, history, working and leadership that needs to make a company long-lasting is absolutely intriguing to read. Also another one was about the RER, an Indonesian company whose critical element has been the adoption and maintenance of an integrated production-protection ring landscape model also highlighting that with consumer demand for sustainable products, coupled with the climate change crisis on the horizon, the RER project could progress into a notable story when the company fully achieves its sustainability ambitions.

♻️In the final part of the book we basically witness what is required for the application of ESL in reality that is understanding of major factors like that responsible use of natural resources as a part of long-term strategy for sustainable growth and the fact that one doesn't have to destroy the environment to gain profit in business and also points out the lacking like lack of specificity, accountability and disclosure in terms of transperancy, lack of representation of marginalized group leaders, lack of tolerance for discrimination and exclusion.

♻️Overall reading this book was a knowledgeable journey that makes one realise what is in need of the hour and strives to do and undertake the right actions required. The language was easy that could be comprehensible by anyone along with self-reflective questions at the end of a chapter that makes the readers ponder and gather their own personal takeaways and teachings from the book.
